This adorable family of three came into my natural light studio for their newborn session when their baby was just about 3.5 weeks old, right in the window I like to have newborn and family photoshoots in studio! Ive been a Los Angeles and Orange County newborn photographer for over 14 years now, and I’ve found the ideal window for newborn photography is between 10–23 days after birth. It’s when babies are still  sleepy and curled, but moms have had time to start feeling better and families are beginning to settle into their new rhythm. If you see online its best within the first 7 days or 10 days, that's old news- it's absolutely okay to wait just a tad longer, and I prefer it! 

By this stage, parents are more comfortable stepping in front of the camera, and the short drive to the studio often feels like a refreshing outing. It’s a chance to slow down, step out of the house ( and usually you are so ready for an outing by then!) And you are still in the newness when you are you in that 10-23 day window of birth!
